Instant Replay DR-550 SCSI version
Symptom:
Failed hard drive
Possible Reason(s):
Normal wear.
Solution(s):
The DR-550 used a 50 pin SCSI 2 hard drive. It is best to try to obtain a replacement drive that has the same specifications as the drive in the unit. Understand that SCSI drives have been out of production for many years and it is more than likely that the sourced drive will be used.
When sourcing a replacement drive, make sure it is a 50 pin SCSI 2 drive that spins no faster than 7200 RPM. Set the jumper configure to TE (Termination Enable) and the lowest SCSI INDEX NUMBER (SCSI ID 0 or SCSI ID 1 depending on the manufacture). Install the hard drive and follow the format instructions.
To format hard drive, hold the STOP key while turning on the power. Continue to hold and press the STOP key until the Format instruction appear on screen.
Follow the screen prompts to format the drive.
