SD MAXX RAID Setup and Software Install

  1. Disable Quiet Boot

 

    1. Power on the Server.
    2. Enter BIOS setup by pressing [DEL] at prompt.
    3. Change Quiet Boot to [Disabled].
    4. Press [F10] to save changes.
    5. Server will re-boot.

 

 

  1. Rebuild RAID Array

 

    1. Press [Alt3] at prompt to enter 3ware setup.
    2. Press [Enter] to continue.
    3. Press [ENTER] to select Drives.
    4. Press [Tab] and select Create Unit.
    5. Select RAID Configuration.

Select RAID 5.

    1.   Select StorSave Profile and set to Performance.
    2.   Select AutoVerify and set to Disabled.
    3.   Press [Tab] to select Advanced and press [Enter].
    4.   Set Drive Queuing Mode to Enabled.
    5.   [Tab] to OK and press [Enter].
    6.   Select OK, Type [Y] to enable Write Cache.
    7.   Press [F8] and type [Y] to Save and Exit. Server will re-boot.

 

 

  1. Reconfigure BIOS

 

    1.  Enter BIOS setup by pressing [DEL] at prompt.
    2.  Change Quiet Boot back to [Enabled].
    3.  Navigate to Boot Options.
    4.  Select Boot Option #1 and set to 3ware Storage Controller.
    5.  Press [F10] and press [ENTER] to select Yes to save and exit.

 

 

 

  1. Install Software

 

    1. Insert CD Software Drive.
    2. Server will automatically boot from USB drive.
    3. Installation Options screen will appear.
    4. Select Full Install and press [Enter].
    5. Confirmation screen will appear.
    6. Select Yes and press [Enter] to begin installation.
    7. Installation Options screen will reappear.
    8. Select Full Install and press [Enter].
    9. Confirmation screen will appear.
    10. Select Yes and press [Enter] to install software.
    11. When installation is complete, remove USB drive and press [Enter] to select OK.  Server will re-boot.

 

 

  1. Verify RAID

 

    1.   Navigate to end of EULA and click Accept.
    2.   Click Start>RAID Status.
    3.   Select Accept this certificate permanently, then click OK.
    4.   Click OK at prompts.
    5.   Change User to Administrator, then click Login.
    6.   Navigate to Management>Maintenance.
    7.   Click on box next to Unit 0.  A checkmark will appear.
    8.   Click on Verify Unit.
