HD Software CD Download and Install

  • Downloading the appropriate .iso CD image file
    • Using Flash FXP or another FTP client, download the image file (xxxx.iso) from the 360 Systems FTP site.  (contact 360 Systems Support for login information.)
    • WARNING – installing the incorrect software version on your server may render it inoperable.
    • Software images are located in the SOFTWARE/ISO IMAGES/HD SOFTWARE directory on the FTP site. Once you have located the appropriate file, download it to a folder on your computer.  Please make note of where you downloaded the file to.
  • Downloading the image burning software
    • If you already have image burning software and are capable of writing the image file to the appropriate media, do this then please skip to step 4.3.5
    • On the ftp site, navigate to the TOOLS directory and download the appropriate version of ISO Recorder to a temporary folder. (Version ISORecorder31-vista_win7.msi is for Vista and Windows 7,   Version msi is for Windows XP.)
    • Once the file is downloaded, double click on the file to install it. Follow the instructions to install the software.
  • Writing the image and creating the USB software media key
    • Insert a blank writeable CD into your drive. Cancel or exit any programs that automatically run when inserting a blank disc.
    • Locate the .iso image file downloaded in step 4.1 and right click on it. In the popup menu, select Copy image to CD
    • The new window should display the Image file and show there is a blank cd. Click Next
    • The program will extract and write the image to a CD. Click Finish when the program has completed.
    • Open Windows Explorer (Windows key + E).
    • Insert a blank, formatted (fat32) 1GB USB key or larger (1GB recommended) into the computer and note the drive letter assigned in Windows Explorer.
    • Insert the CD into the CD-rom drive. The Remote Workstation Setup will automatically run.  Click on Cancel, then Yes to exit the setup without installing.
    • Click on the Windows Explorer window and browse the content of the CD. Locate and double click on the bat file.
    • In the new window enter the drive letter that was assigned to the USB key and press Enter. Press y then Enter to copy files onto the USB drive.  The program will start to write the files to the USB key. This process will take approximately 10 minutes.
    • When completed, it will report “Process completed successfully.  Press any key to continue…”. Press Enter and remove USB drive. It is now ready to use to install the server software.
  • Updating the server software
    • With the server off, insert the USB key into one of the USB slots on the rear of the server and power on the server.
    • The server will automatically boot from the USB key to a menu with the following options
      • Full install – use this to reset the server to factory defaults. WARNING – This will delete all content from the server.
      • Upgrade – use this to update the server software without harming the content
      • XFS repair – use this to attempt to repair file corruption.
    • Select the appropriate type of installation as directed by your customer service representative.
    • Once the installation is complete, remove the USB key and press enter for the server to restart.
    • NOTE: If this is the very first installation on a new set of hard drives you will need to complete a full install twice.   To do this simply follow the steps listed under section 4.4 twice making sure to select Full install both times.  This is so that the partitions on the drives are established prior to the software being installed.
